One of my last creative engagements with Two River was to put together an evening to celebrate the end of the theater’s 25th anniversary season. I was charged with representing some of the defining work of Two River’s past 25 seasons, culminating in an engaging event that felt cohesive and entertaining.

I curated the list of featured productions to include everything ranging from new work the theater has commissioned to favorite classics we have produced, equally representative of the 25 years and Artistic Director tenures. I strung together the monologues, scenes, and songs in an order that allowed pieces to speak to each other and maintain the thematic journey. We cast the event from past Two River companies with people who would be recognizable to our audiences - and we were so lucky to have these trusting and talented people play so many different roles!

This was such a special project for many reasons. I got to try my hand at directing certain styles and playwrights I have yet to work with - Shakespeare, Shaw, Noel Coward, etc. The curatorial nature of the project also played to my strengths in an exciting way; I love adapting source material and shaping disconnected pieces to tell one overall story.

Last way this was a special night for me - it felt like such a rewarding capstone for the growth and opportunities Two River has allowed me. After two seasons, twelve mainstage productions, and one understudy performance (as Tim in Noises Off), I’m a more well-rounded, confident, communicative person and story-teller than I was when I started...
